Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Melioratrix LLC (“Melioratrix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the ProtectInk desktop application (the “App”), the protectink.app website (the “Site”), and related services (together, the “Services”). ProtectInk is built to keep your document processing on your own device, and we collect as little personal information as possible.

1. Summary

• ProtectInk processes your documents locally on your device. We do not receive, transmit, store, or have access to the documents you scan or the text extracted from them.
• We process limited information needed to sell licenses, activate them, deliver software and model updates, and provide support.
• Payments are handled by our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

2. Information we process

a. Document content — none on our servers

Document images and the text extracted from them are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to us.

b. Purchase information

When you buy a license, the transaction is processed by Lemon Squeezy, which collects your name, email address, billing details, and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive only limited order and customer details from Lemon Squeezy — such as your email address, order or license identifiers, and license status — to fulfill and support your purchase.

c. License activation

When you activate a license in the App, the App sends your license key and a locally generated device identifier (a “machine ID”) to our licensing endpoint at protectink.app to validate the license and bind it to your device. We may retain the license key, associated device identifier(s), associated email address, and activation status to operate licensing, prevent abuse, and provide support.

d. Software and model downloads

The App downloads application updates and model files from our content servers (delivered via Cloudflare). Our infrastructure provider processes standard technical request data — such as IP address, timestamp, and user-agent — to deliver content and maintain security and reliability.

e. Website usage

The Site does not use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party marketing pixels. Our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) may process standard server logs to deliver and protect the Site.

f. Support communications

If you contact us (for example, at [email protected]), we receive your email address and the contents of your message so that we can respond.

3. How we use information

We use the limited information above to provide and maintain the Services; validate and manage licenses; deliver software and model updates; process and support purchases and refunds (with Lemon Squeezy); respond to your requests; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues; and comply with our legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (EEA and UK users)

Where applicable, we process personal information to perform our contract with you (licensing and support), for our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Services and preventing abuse), and to comply with legal obligations.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with:

• Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record and payment processor, to process purchases, taxes, and refunds;
• Infrastructure providers (such as Cloudflare) that host the Site and deliver software and model files;
• Authorities or other third parties where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Data retention

We retain license, order, and support records for as long as needed to provide the Services and to meet legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations, after which we delete or anonymize them.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we process, and license validation uses cryptographically signed tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International transfers

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal information or “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

10. Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Third-party services

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, and the Site and downloads are delivered via Cloudflare. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above.
